Reading’s final goal achieved

The Championship season has just completed and Reading finish with a win. And who scores the winner - Greame Murty from the penaly spot - only his second goal in 280 appearances - the first 5 years ago. A fitting end really, Greame Murty was the last regular outfield starter to score this season.

The result means that Reading set a new league points record of 106.

Getting Started, Woolway Style - Update 3

I’m now entering new territory in Colin Woolway’s series of drum exercises. Introducing off-beat eights on the hi-hat and ride…

The ride bell is kinda groovy :-)

In all of the above, new forms of independence are introduced. The right hand and right foot hardly ever strike at the same time.

Getting Started, Woolway Style - Update 2

I’ve hit a sticking (no pun intented) point with one of the drum exercises in Colin Woolway’s series. Basically, it involves a tricky bass drum pattern with various hi-hat patterns over the top.

The bass drum pattern is as follows:

1e+a2e+a3e+a4e+a
x x x xx

For the record, here’s my progress so far. Note, I’m not particularly happy with it - the sixteenth hi-hats accent with the bass drum, and the left foot of the open/close sixteenth hi-hats wanders.

Rather than stall, I’ve decided to move on. Over time, I’ll get it.

One week later, Reading now Champions

After a 5-0 thrashing of Derby (who almost ended Reading’s winning run on New Year’s eve), Reading are now Champions of the Championship football league. All that remains is to beat the highest points tally ever recorded of 105 by Sunderland.

The Championship remains exciting to the end, as there’s still the second automatic promotion spot and play-off positions to fight for. It seems no-one really wants them, as nerves are throwing up some unexpected results.
